The Gtx 1080 Graphics card has been launched. There are two versions of it
1. One is the Founders Edition.
2. The second one is for the third parties/ partners which usually add different fans and stuff to it.
The founders edition is $100 more than the normal ones. Founders Edition is simply telling you that pay $100 more to get a product that looks almost like GTX 980 and that's it.
The Gtx 1080 is going to be in the price range of ( $500 - $699 ) depending on the customization added to it by board partners.
Here are some of the features of GTX 1080
1. The GTX 1080 is 3x more powerful than predecessors
2. The price range of GTX 980 and GTX 1080 is the same.
3. GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are specifically designed for VR games.
4. GTX 1070 will be in price range of ( $ 350- $450) again depending on the customization.
5. GTX 1080 performs better than Titan X.
6. GTX 1080 has one eight pin connector to it.

Personally, I believe that much hype is created around Virtual Reality games and hardware. The investment in hardware is too much plus in a matter of 6 months or a year, new versions would be added for virtual reality hardware. There would be third parties creating headsets for virtual reality games which will cost a lot less than currently sold.
So my honest opinion is that if you can get hands on used GTX 980 or GTX 970 go for it as gamers will be selling these graphics card. GTX 980 will last for about 2 to 3 years for virtual reality games. The price tag would be half on used GTX 980 or even lower, keep a look out for it.
The estimated cost for Creating a Virtual Reality game machine is close to $ 1500 - $ 2000, that's a lot of money if you think about it. If you are a kind of person that does not mind spending this much amount of money then go ahead and get your hands on it.
